Equine Advice: TPR

Gypsy, the Equine Encyclopedia, has something to say about TPR.  Like all shetlands, she is always watching, learning and listening.

TPR stands for Temperature, Pulse and Respiration.  In horses, the normal temperature is 98-100 degrees Fahrenheit (opinions of “normal” temperature differ; some say 98.5-101 degrees Fahrenheit and others say 99-101 degrees Fahrenheit), the normal pulse is 40-60 beats per minute and normal respiration is 8-16 breaths per minute.
